Pear

Pyrus communis

Pale pink to light reddish-brown heartwood; sapwood slightly paler and usually not distinct; sometimes steamed for deeper pink; sometimes dyed black as ebony substitute.

Pear (Pyrus communis) is a fine-textured fruitwood with a subtle pinkish‑tan to light brown colour and very even grain. It’s prized for carving, turning, instrument parts, and precision work because it cuts cleanly and holds detail; it is not naturally durable for exterior use.
