White Willow

Salix alba

Tan to pinkish-brown heartwood; yellowish-white sapwood not always distinct.

White willow (Salix alba) is a very light, soft hardwood with a fine-to-medium texture. It’s traditionally used for carving, cricket bats (related willows), boxes, and lightweight components; it works easily but has low natural durability and poor outdoor performance without protection.
